What to Expect?
The biggest news we have so far on the Final Fantasy 7 Remake are the changes coming to the classic active time battle system (ATB). In an article with Official Playstation Magazine Nomura confirmed there will be changes to the battle system!
In the article he said
We want to clarify: We’re not going to be changing it into a shooter or something like that. We are going to be bringing dramatic changes, but we want to make sure it’s still recognizable.
What this means for the classic RPG time will tell. Personally I enjoyed the ATB, it was still a turn based system but your turn to attack depended on how fast your character was. As you powered up your characters they could attack twice before a monster could attack once. It made the battles more dynamic. In in the video below you can get a quick taste of it.

I hope they improve upon the system rather than a complete overhaul. In Square Enix current releases we can see they are changing the battle system to feel more like an action game (Hack n Slash). Which can be a good thing. So far the battle system in Final Fantasy 15 looks awesome!
Maybe it will be similar to that. A faster battle systems tend to be more engaging which, I feel is a perfect fit for the series. The question we need to ask ourselves is do we want the same game with just upgraded graphics? Or do we want a similar game with all the loving characters in slightly different experience? I’m leaning towards the new experience, either way I am looking forward to the rebirth of this action RPG. But, enough of my opinion how do you feel? Tell me what you think in the comments below.
